Gwen Isaac
Director/Producer
Gwen Isaac grew up in Kororāreka (Russell) In Aotearoa (New Zealand). Her remote childhood contributes to the unusal characters and stories she is drawn to. Gwen spent a decade creating television formats and directing factual and documentary series for broadcasters in the UK and USA. Highlights include Summer at Yorkminster for BBC Scotland, Heroes Unmasked for NBC USA, The Real Washington for BBC World News and Old Dogs, New Tricks for ITV London as part of the prestigious Metroland series. Where There is Life (2017), her debut feature documentary was selected for the 2017 New Zealand International Film Festival. It was described as “startling in its candour” and she was a finalist for Best First Time Director at the London Independent Film Awards. Gwen has released two short documentaries;  Tokyo Woman (selected for four international festivals) and Siouxsie & the Virus which was awarded best film in the Long Story Shorts Competition. Gwen is a screen educator, leading the factual major within Massey University’s College of Creative Arts, Toi Rauwhārangi. Gwen directed and produced, Ms. Information with Alex Reed and Phillida Perry which was released nationwide in New Zealand in 2023. Gwen is developing two projects; feature 'Mad Merry', a personal documentary investigating a childhood mystery in the 1980’s and a revealing investigation into the secret life of the brassiere.
Phillida Perry
Creative Producer
Phillida Perry is creative producer based in Tauranga Moana bringing expertise in law, business, and the arts to filmmaking. She holds a masters in professional writing (first class honours) from the University of Waikato, 2021.  Phillida’s production credits include feature documentary Ms Information (NZIFF, 2023) about pink-haired microbiologist Dr Siouxsie Wiles and award-winning short-doc Siouxsie & The Virus. She co-produced Pulling Up Stumps (2023) a short drama starring Sir Ian Mune and Mark Mitchinson.  She is now producing Mark’s gothic-horror A Lot Was Said Last Night set in a kauri forest of yesteryear. Her latest film Breaking The Mould (Doc Edge, 2024) offers a visceral glimpse into the ceramic creations of Jaime Jenkins. She will soon release Kunst a short documentary investigating female kinship developed through art collecting as 15 women contributed to an art-buying-group over 13 years. Phillida has multiple factual and scripted projects in development including adaptation of Tracey Slaughter’s novella THE LONGEST DRINK IN TOWN and screenwriting sourced in her family’s intergenerational farming history in Wairarapa, New Zealand. Phillida seeks to celebrate the human spirit through her practice and promote change by focusing on issues of female empowerment, identity, purpose, and our deep human need for connection.
